Dundas couple wins $1 million on Encore
Carol and Joseph Ridsdale of Dundas won $1 million after matching all seven Encore numbers on a Lottario draw Dec. 26.
The winning ticket was purchased at Pioneer Snack Express on Dundas Street in Waterdown.
Carol, 56, and Joe, 58, said in a press release from OLG that they are regular lottery players and always add Encore.
I was having a frustrating morning and decided to stop what I was doing and check our lottery tickets," said Carol, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their winnings. I used the OLG Lottery App and when I saw Big Winner, I thought my phone was broken."
Carol asked Joe to look at the ticket.
I said, I think we won something. Like money. Like lots of money - $100,000.'"
But when Joe looked at it, he realized it was more.
It's more than $100,000 - it's a million!"
Carol said she was in such disbelief that she had to Google how many zeros were in a million dollars.
Watching Carol's reaction was priceless and one of the best parts of winning!" said Joe.
The couple plans to pay off their mortgage and invest in their retirement - and as the year they retire will also be their 30th wedding anniversary, they plan to celebrate with a trip to Hawaii.
