Rodgers: 'Unbelievable' to have fans at Lambeau for playoff win vs. Rams
The Green Bay Packers welcomed ticketed fans to Lambeau Field for the first time this season for Saturday's playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams, and though capacity was limited, the supporters who were there made their presence felt.
"It's special. There's absolutely nothing like it," Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said after Green Bay's 32-18 win, according to Nick Shook of NFL.com. "We have really missed that part of this experience. So to run out of the tunnel tonight with fans was unbelievable.
"It's hard to explain how much the presence means on the field and just having that energy from the crowd. Being able to play in front of them tonight, to hear the chants, to hear them banging the boards they got was really special."
A total of 8,456 people - including 7,439 ticketed fans - looked on as Rodgers racked up 296 passing yards and three total touchdowns versus the NFL's top-ranked defense, helping Green Bay reach the NFC Championship Game for the second straight year.
"You could feel the energy in the stadium," the 37-year-old signal-caller said, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Tom Silverstein.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur also praised the home fans for their impact.
"I think that definitely made a big difference," LaFleur said, according to Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "Our guys really fed off of their energy."
Rodgers will get to start at home in an NFC title game for the first time in his career on Jan. 24 against the winner of Sunday's matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints.
