Check disk is too quick

I have an old (circa 2000) music server based with a Linux OS. Recently I have been having a lot of problems importing songs into it. The details don't matter, but I want to check the disk for errors. I've learned just a bit about Linux, but enough to Telnet to the music server, get a list of disks, and unmount them one by one and run fsck. The problem is that when I run fsck it finishes almost immediately. The old DOS command chkdsk would run for a long time and show you what you are doing. But fsck finishes without even a pause and reads "clean, 551/19152896 files . . ."

I can't believe that it is checking a 150GB disk sector by sector and finishing without even a pause. I must be doing something wrong. Any suggestions.latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=_bR7XUc_DSM:1aZf9xIq368:F7zBnMy latest?i=_bR7XUc_DSM:1aZf9xIq368:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=_bR7XUc_DSM:1aZf9xIq368:gIN9vFw_bR7XUc_DSM
