Brees played through rotator cuff, fascia tears
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees fought through various ailments during the 2020 season.
Brees' wife, Brittany, revealed the nature of those injuries in a social media note, according to Garland Gillen of Fox 8.

Brittany revealed that her husband played through rotator cuff and fascia tears, 11 broken ribs, and a collapsed lung that was well-documented.
"This has been the hardest year of our lives, yet in some ways one of the best," the note reads.
The Saints signal-caller missed four regular-season games after suffering the broken ribs and collapsed lung early in the campaign. Taysom Hill replaced Brees, and New Orleans went 3-1 with its normal starting field general sidelined.
Brees didn't appear to be the same quarterback who holds the NFL's career passing yards record upon his return, finishing the 2020 season with 2,942 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
It's been speculated that last Sunday's playoff loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be Brees' final performance. The future Hall of Famer is expected to take his time before making a decision.
