Why php is not being updated on Slack 14.2?

My wordpress site keep complaining that my php version is too old. I also got a call from our IT department that my php is security risk and I need to update it as soon as possible. My slackware 14.2 is fully up to date, but php is still stuck at 5.6.40. The current stable version is 8.01. Is there a particular reason why we are still at 5.6.40? I looked in slackbuilds.org but there is nothing there about php. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
