Unable to Update or do Maintenance

After trying to install Brave and/or Dissenter Browsers with no luck I now cannot access updates will not connect gives an error message.
E:Type 'deb' is not known on line 1 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/brave-browser-release.list, E:The list of sources could not be read.
How do I fix this issue?
