ioquake3 runs in opensuse leap, no local host computer players or music

I used the quake3 installer and installed the data files in the .q3a folder under my user name. Quake runs, but I have no local host opponents to play against. I have installed Quake in my other linux installs and this is the first time I experienced this problem. The first time I ran the installers as root and it installed in usr/local/games/quake3. Realizing my mistake, I ran the installers again in a non-root terminal so I was not sure if that caused the no players problem. Also, I can not run the uninstaller from a root terminal in usr/local/games/quake3 even though the permissions are root root. I do not want to just delete the folder in usr/local/games/quake3 because want to also get rid of any symbolic links or references it may have.latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=3O4_1JdJTwY:xfTldyspwh4:F7zBnMy latest?i=3O4_1JdJTwY:xfTldyspwh4:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=3O4_1JdJTwY:xfTldyspwh4:gIN9vFw3O4_1JdJTwY
