A 90-year-old man involved in a collision on Hamilton's east Mountain days before Christmas has died.

Hamilton police were notified Jan. 20 that one of the drivers involved in a two-vehicle collision on Dec. 22 around 1 p.m., in the intersection of Upper Wentworth Street at Mohawk Road East, had died from his injuries.

Police say the 90-year-old was transported to hospital after the crash with injuries believed to have been minor.

While receiving medical treatment at the hospital it was discovered the male was also suffering from internal injuries and was admitted," police said in a press release.

The crash investigation was turned over to the police collision reconstruction unit who completed their investigation and are not laying any criminal charges.

The 90-year-old's death marks the 15th traffic fatality in Hamilton in 2020.

11-year-old Jude Strickland was the city's 14th traffic fatality last year. A 28-year-old Hamilton man was charged after the boy was struck crossing Upper Gage at Royal Vista near his school on the east Mountain.
