Though the year ended in disappointment, Josh Allen cemented himself as the Buffalo Bills' franchise quarterback with a sparkling 2020 campaign.

In his third NFL season, Allen thrust himself into the league MVP conversation.

"I proved that they didn't make a mistake by drafting me going back a few years ago," the 24-year-old said Monday.

Allen was the third quarterback taken in the 2018 NFL Draft. He was selected behind Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold and was thought to be a long-term project. Instead, Allen brought the Bills further than any of his draftmates have taken their teams. He even outdueled 2019 MVP Lamar Jackson in a home divisional-round win over the Baltimore Ravens this postseason.

The gunslinger improved his completion percentage from 58.8% in 2019 to 69.2% this season and threw for 17 more touchdowns (37) against just one more interception (10).

Allen believes he and the Bills can remain in contention for a Super Bowl.

"I'm just trying to help this team with whatever and whichever way that I can," he said.
