'Major road closure': Multi-vehicle crash on QEW in Burlington leaves 2 dead and multiple people injured
The OPP are investigating a major crash on the QEW in Burlington that has left two women dead and at least three others injured Tuesday morning (Jan. 26).
The crash occurred sometime before 6 a.m when multiple cars collided near the ramp from Brant Street.
Two women were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Halton Region paramedics.
One other person was taken to a trauma centre in critical condition and two others were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
A Mitsubishi car crossed over from the westbound lanes into the eastbound lanes where there was a significant collision," OPP Const. Kevin Westhead said. "A head-on collision essentially." Here is an update from the scene:
The highway is closed in both directions between Guelph Line and Brant Street. The OPP say four vehicles were involved and the closure could last up to eight hours.
Halton police say it's a "major road closure" and traffic will be impacted.
