Looking for a VERY basic audio editor.
by froufrou from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5DFXF)
I want software so i can slow down an existing song, and then store the slowed down version in 'Downloads' and then put the song on my mp3 player.
Also, to be able to isolate a guitar solo from a song, make a file of the solo, and then put it on my player.
I realize this is probably incredibly simple to most people, but not for me!
Yesterday i installed Audacity,[?] and then later on, Sweep. Spent a long time trying to work out how to use both, swore a lot, then gave up and uninstalled them!
All the features available on screen were too confusing to me. There were just too many, and i didn't understand most of the terminology. It all looked too technical.
I expected to be able to put in, for example, the part of the song i wanted to save/cut, say 3.00 to 5.55 minutes, and then create that small file.
Obviously both softwares do this, but to me it simply wasn't clear how to do it.
Although i've been using Linux for years, and i've been online for longer, anyone who looks at my past posts will instantly realize that i find most things to do with computers difficult to understand.
Working with, and understanding computers, Linux, software, terminology, etc, just doesn't come naturally or easily to me.
Yes, i've read many Beginner's Help Guides on all this type of thing but it's just hard going for me.
I'm telling you this in the hope anyone replying to this thread[or any other]will be patient and understand why i no doubt ask some very BASIC questions a lot of the time.
Thanks.
