Slackware Live: Persistence & System settings issues (Custimization )
by justa_skid from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5DGT6)
Just a heads up im a bit of a noob when it comes to linux--at least by my standards. Sorry for poor english.
Obj: My goal is to modify the downloaded "Slackware Live" iso, to create my own custom distro. I would like ability mod everything the OS has to offer (i.e. default wallpaper/bg, implementing my own custom scripts, removal of programs etc.) and have these changes persist through reboots.
Background: I've downloaded the "slackware-live-current.iso", into a "Virtual-Box" on my rig. However the VBmachine was set up without persistence.
Issue/Prob: Though I have my desired 'iso', it is currently lacking persistence--thus any modifications made do not persist thru reboots of the VB-machine. This is no good because, again my objective is to create my own custom-distro which I can reuse at my disgression.
Question: Can I create a persistent partion on my current "iso." from within the "VB-machine"? After doing so how can make sure my changes, for example to the default background, are properly saved and booted into?
