Although the Rams reportedly landed their new starting quarterback, Matthew Stafford wasn't the only signal-caller Los Angeles pursued.

The Rams considered "making a hard run" at Green Bay Packers passer Aaron Rodgers, according to Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times. However, the Packers were adamant they weren't trading their star.

Rodgers voiced his frustration after Green Bay's NFC championship loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, saying he'd "have to take some time away."

The MVP candidate later dismissed speculation about wanting to leave the team on "The Pat McAfee Show."

"I don't feel like I've said anything that I haven't said before," Rodgers said. "It was just more of a realization, I think, (that) ultimately my future is not necessarily in my control."

Rodgers remains under contract with the Packers through 2023, with a potential out following the 2021 campaign.

A California native, Rodgers recorded 4,299 yards, 48 touchdowns, and a 70.7% completion percentage this past season.
