Grub menu renders very slowly.

I recently switched to Grub on my new system that uses UEFI. After a small learning curve and a few hiccups it now runs perfectly. However I have recently ran into a problem. I was running a a GTX 970, but managed to finally get a 3060ti. After I swapped out the video cards my Grub menu now renders very slowly. You can see the menu being drawn and keystrokes take like half a second to register. It was not doing this with my old 970. I have seen multiple posts on different forums dating back as far as 10 years with the same problem but can't find a fix. I've seen posts where people say this happened after swapping out their ssd and other components. Grub works and this is not a huge deal but it is annoying and I would like to find a fix if possible. If disable the framebuffer and just use console mode the problem goes away, but this was not a problem before I switched video cards.
Any ideas are appreciated.
