Misunderstanding and misconception and an attempt to clarify
by BeyondMiriam from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5DV4T)
First I want to apologize if I didn't put this in the correct sub-forum.
I would like to reply to this topic, which is unfortunately now locked:

There was a misunderstanding that I have to clear up.
In one post, member cynwulf wrote that he would like to hear from JSB's "anonymous fans" why they upvoted him, and in the following post TB0ne found out that these upvotes came very quickly one after the other.
Those were posts 9 and 10 in the above topic.
I think I am responsible for a large part of these upvotes and would like to explain why here.
Unfortunately, I now have to take a step back - my original MiriamBeyond account has been blocked and I had set up a new one to answer here.
I don't know why it was blocked, there was no justification. I sent a message and still haven't received an explanation, but I have to assume that it has something to do with the above topic.
Originally I had registered as a normal Linux user, but soon became aware of a topic in which another member (not JSB) was horribly abused, people ganged up on hik for being a troll when all he/she did was to ask a much-asked question. I found that very shocking and commented on it there.
After that I noticed the introduction of jsbjsb002 (now JSB).

This person was systematically gutted from the start by jsbjsb001 and a few others. Mercilessly suspected and condemned from the start, before he/she could even justify him/herself. Everything problematic that JSB wrote afterwards must be viewed from this point of view.
Somehow I felt sorry for that, because I think that nobody deserves to be treated with so much suspicion. So I started to upvote his/her posts out of solidarity with the persecuted, not realizing I might be doing him/her a disservice. Nevertheless, sometimes this member wrote things that were factually correct and helpful and deserved an upvote.
I'm sure that most other suspicions could have a similarly innocuous explanation if you just allow yourself to let go of your own paranoia for a moment. For example, I can think of some harmless explanations why someone who doesn't speak English well suddenly posts one sentence in perfect English.
I see that the contributions of this member are often not very good, but I have to say it again, the way people are judged on suspicion only here is scary. And too many follow without checking or thinking for themselves.
You will probably also judge me that way now, but I don't care.
All this turned my stomach so much that I didn't feel like taking part in Linux discussions anymore, but I thank those who have helped me and the silent majority that does not take part in witch-hunts!
