Cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed at Mohawk College, Ryerson Elementary School and two Fortinos grocery store locations.

An employee at the Fortinos grocery store in Ancaster has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the store's parent company.

Loblaw was notified on Saturday that a staff member at the location at 54 Wilson St. W. had tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19," according to a listing on their COVID-19 case tracker.

The last day the employee worked was Feb. 2.

The company was also notified on Jan. 30 that a staff member at the Fortinos located at 1579 Main St. W. had also tested positive for the virus. Their last shift was on Jan. 27.

According to Loblaw, when a worker tests positive they work closely with public health and follow their guidance to ensure proper notification of close contacts and required cleaning and sanitization in our stores."

It's unclear how many staff members were affected by the cases or if any were recommended to self-isolate as a precaution. The database does not specify which part of the store the employees worked in.

In a release Friday, Mohawk College said they have been notified of a case involving a student connected to their Stoney Creek campus.

According to the college, the student last attended class on Feb. 2 and they followed all entry and safety protocols" while on campus.

The student is self-isolating and Hamilton public health is managing contact tracing.

All cleaning protocols have been followed in order to maintain a safe learning and work environment," said the college.

The case of COVID-19 was also confirmed at Ryerson Elementary School on Friday, according to the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board.

A notice on the school's website did not state if the case was found in a student or staff member but school administrators will contact any students or staff identified as close contacts, who will self-isolate for 14 days."
