Printer won't print

Hi.
have an HPM29w laserjet. Connected via USB. Admin->printer recognizes printer. HPLIP installed. Local host connected. Went thru process of inserting URL. Result: Cups server error / client error not posible. Brought up status cups in terminal => loaded / active. Also (don't recall what command produced:
scheduler is running
system default destination: HPM29w
device for HPM29w: usb://HP/LaserJet%20MFP%20M28-M31?serial=VNB3924220
HPM29w accepting requests since Sat 06 Feb 2021 09:43:19 AM EST
printer HPM29w is idle. enabled since Sat 06 Feb 2021 09:43:19 AM EST
Otherwise. Printer set as default. Print dialogue box appears. When print job requested, printer light blinks. Nothing happens. HP support for Linux circuitous / useless.
Appreciate any thoughts.
