The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made history during Super Bowl LV.

The Buccaneers became the first team in NFL history to win the Super Bowl at their home stadium after beating the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9 on Sunday.

No team had hosted the title game at home over the last 55 years. The Bucs earned the right to play at Raymond James Stadium with a victory over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game.

Prior to Sunday, only the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl XIV (Rose Bowl stadium) and the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XIX (Stanford Stadium) had played in the big game close to their home venue.

Bruce Arians' squad didn't experience as significant of a home-field advantage due to the COVID-19 pandemic, though it didn't appear to matter during the club's dominant win. Raymond James Stadium welcomed 25,000 fans for the contest alongside 30,000 cardboard cutouts.

The NFL also allowed 7,500 vaccinated health care workers to attend.
