Postfix File Permissions problem?
by Gerbilio from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5E683)
Hello. I am working on a Postfix exercise for my students. I've installed postfix and mailx and set postfix running, but have done no further configuration. Before installation I had one user, student. After installation I added another, alterego.
At present studentcan send email to alterego, but when alteregoattempts to read mail I get:
/var/spool/mail/student: Permission denied
However, alteregocan send mail to studentand studentcan receive it successfully.
Here are the permissions for the /var/mail directory:
drwxrwxr-x. 2 root mail 62 Feb 15 15:07 .
drwxr-xr-x. 12 root root 136 Feb 15 14:09 ..
-rw-rw----. 1 alterego mail 1113 Feb 15 15:06 alterego
-rw-rw----. 1 rpc mail 0 Feb 4 2020 rpc
-rw-rw----. 1 student mail 0 Feb 15 15:06 student
I can find nothing different between the studentand alteregoaccounts. What's going on?
Many thanks for any help...Matt
