"What a journey. More than anything, I will miss my teammates. Thank you, I appreciate every one of you and will never forget the relationships and memories made over the years," Wentz wrote. "So many lifelong relationships have been formed in that locker room. Thank you for the fellowship, the camaraderie in the locker room, and the daily battles out on the practice field!"

Wentz also thanked Eagles owner Jeffery Lurie, general manager Howie Roseman, and former head coach Doug Pederson, among others. Reports emerged Friday that Wentz and Pederson's professional falling out was so severe that the two did not speak to each other for "eight, nine, 10 weeks."

In the end, both Wentz and Pederson leave the City of Brotherly Love just three seasons removed from winning the Super Bowl together in 2017.

"As one chapter closes, another one begins. And I'm excited to join the Indianapolis Colts and look forward to the work ahead! God's plan," Wentz added.
