Two power outages on Hamilton Mountain Monday morning
Two power failures early Monday morning left more than 1600 customers on Hamilton Mountain in the dark.
Alectra Utilities first reported a power failure in the area of Mohawk to Rymal Road and Garth to Upper James Street of Hamilton which affected 1617 customers and caused the closure of James MacDonald elementary school classes for the day. The power was restored just before 9 a.m. and the cause of the failure was not reported.
Another outage in the area along Stonechurch Road West between Matthew to Chelsey streets is affecting 32 customers of the utility. The utility reported this outage to be related to an overhead distribution problem at around 7:25 a.m. Crews are dispatched and power is expected to return by 10:30 a.m.
