obmenu-generator items need elevated privileges - How?

I created a CLI only installation from the arcolinux d iso, and installed Openbox without a desktop manager and run it from the command line, not on boot up. My menu is generated by obmenu-generator.

One thing I can not figure out. Some programs, such as gparted, need elevated privileges to run, but when I run them from the menu, there is no way to enter a password and the system seems to be stuck waiting for one. Anything hidden cannot be accessed, for example Tint2 (with autohide) and Yakuake (hide toggled with F12) can no longer be accessed. Running another program from the menu seems to free everything up, or I can exit Openbox and restart it to get things working again.

Even if I try to run from a program like gmrun, entering the run command as "sudo gparted" there is no opportunity to enter a password and everything locks up except the menu. Even running another program from the menu does not allow hidden items to be accessed in this case. Exiting returns to the cli with the message "sudo: a password is required" but entering a password at this point doesn't serve any purpose ("-bash <password>: command not found") so I just ctrl-c to end the process.

If I open a simple terminal, like xterm, and run these programs with sudo, they work fine, but I have a terminal window cluttering the screen until I close the program and the terminal, and I have to remember to not run these programs from the menu.

My question, is there any way to make menu items ask for a password (like the "Run as admin" off-click choice in Windows) or is this just the way it is when using Openbox?latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=2ns_Oc-_vRs:0PRnZFdY6KA:F7zBnMy latest?i=2ns_Oc-_vRs:0PRnZFdY6KA:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=2ns_Oc-_vRs:0PRnZFdY6KA:gIN9vFw2ns_Oc-_vRs
