Trouble Setting Up Dovecot Postfix server
by Mental-Octopus from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5ETS1)
I followed all the steps online. I have a debian server with latest software installed.
I installed postfix, dovecot-imapd,dovecot-pop3d,dovecot-lmtpd
Then I configure my postfix main.cf and dovecot.conf according to tutorial.
Funny thing is in my mail log it doesn't say what username I've attempted to use from my mail client, it
simply says failed connection.
dovecot: imap-login: Aborted login (no auth attempts in 0 secs): user=<>, rip=83.91.229.482, lip=177.124.125.183, session=<V8R+2Yu8k8pWYYG1>
So it appears the mail client is not even able to find my mail server because the mail client
actually says it cannot find the mail server. So I'm wondering what could the problem be with Dovecot and postfix?
