Off-duty cop, OPP save man from overdose after crash on Hwy 403

Two police officers are credited with saving the life of a 56-year-old man after a crash on the 403 in Brant County.

A Brant OPP officer and an off-duty officer from another police service, responded to the scene of a single vehicle collision on the 403 in Brant County on Saturday, Feb. 27 after 10 p.m.

The off-duty officer witnessed the vehicle drive off the highway and stopped to assist.

Police said in a release that there were two occupants in the vehicle and that the male victim was suffering from what looked like an opioid overdose.

The release went on to say, the officers initiated CPR and two doses of naloxone, the male began to breathe after the second dose was administered.

Thanks to the life-saving efforts of the officers, the male regained consciousness and was transported to a local area hospital by ambulance for precautionary measures," police said.

The police investigation into the crash resulted in the seizure of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, prescription opioid pills and suspected stolen property. A 56-year-old male and a 36-year-old female, both from London, face multiple drug and criminal charges.
