Hamilton police crash 50-person house party in Flamborough
Hamilton police say they've laid 11 charges after interrupting a house party at a short-term rental in Flamborough overnight.
Police were called to the party shortly before 12:30 a.m. March 4. On scene, officers found between 10 and 15 cars parked out front of the house and about 50 people inside, police said.
Police issued 11 charges, eight under the Reopening Ontario Act and three under the Highway Traffic Act.
Under current regulations for the COVID-19 pandemic, Hamilton is in the red zone," which restricts indoor gatherings to five people and outdoor gatherings to 25.
This is the second time in two weeks where police have been called to a party at a short-term rental property.
On Feb. 20, police were called to a party in Stoney Creek where they found about 150 people.
In that case, the crowd quickly dispersed. Due to officer safety and the number of people on scene, police did not charge anyone at the time.
That investigation by police and Hamilton bylaw is ongoing, as investigators work to identify the host.
