The Las Vegas Raiders are releasing defensive back Lamarcus Joyner after two seasons with the team, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Joyner was set to make close to $10 million this year, and his reported release will save the Raiders $8.7 million in cap space, according to Spotrac.

The Raiders signed Joyner to a lucrative four-year, $42-million contract during the 2019 offseason, and he was expected to play a significant part in the secondary as a versatile defensive back. The 30-year-old has struggled to live up to his billing, though, failing to record an interception during his tenure with the team.

Las Vegas has been working to purge several veteran players from its roster as it looks to shed salary this offseason. The Raiders already released receiver Tyrell Williams and will reportedly part ways with offensive linemen Richie Incognito and Gabe Jackson. The team is also reportedly shopping right tackle Trent Brown.
