Nvidia driver quits KDE with a blank screen. In KDE CTL+ALT+F2 gives a terminal with no video, but keyboard works
by jkh2cpu from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5F7MZ)
For maybe the last month the Nvidia driver prevents me from dropping into a terminal session (CLT+ALT+F2) without video. I can exit the blank window by pressing CTL+ALT+F1.
When I quit a KDE session, I'm left with a blank terminal but a keyboard that works... If I type startx on the blinded terminal, I get my KDE session back.
If I use the nouveau driver, there is no problem, but alas the GPU is not picked up :-(.
This is on a clean install from the Slackware64-15.iso, and then a system built up from slackpkg updates.
Is there a fix out there?
TIA.
John.
