The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are re-signing edge rusher Shaq Barrett to a four-year contract worth up to $72 million, agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The pact contains $36 million fully guaranteed. It also features a base value of $17 million annually and $4 million available through incentives, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Barrett secured the long-term contract after playing under the franchise tag in 2020, and on a one-year deal in 2019. He's been an instrumental component of Todd Bowles' defense over the last two seasons, posting 27.5 sacks during that span.

Once a castoff from the Denver Broncos, Barrett has grown into a legitimate star in Tampa Bay. He made his first career Pro Bowl in 2019, and the 28-year-old produced four sacks during the Buccaneers' Super Bowl run to boost his stock even further ahead of free agency.

The Buccaneers entered the offseason hoping to retain several key free agents, and they've now reached agreements with Barrett and linebacker Lavonte David. Tampa Bay also applied the franchise tag to Chris Godwin, keeping the stud wide receiver off the market.
