Report: Lions, Romeo Okwara agree to 3-year, $39M deal
Romeo Okwara's career year in 2020 has paid off.
The defensive end has agreed to a three-year, $39-million deal to remain with the Detroit Lions, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Okwara led the Lions with a career-best 10 sacks last season. He also racked up 44 tackles and three forced fumbles, and he tied for fifth among NFL edge rushers with 61 total pressures, according to PFF.
The 25-year-old Notre Dame product spent the previous three years with Detroit, registering 74 tackles and 19 sacks through 45 appearances.
Okwara entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie with the New York Giants in 2016, but he registered just one sack through 22 games over two seasons with the team.
Romeo's brother, Julian, also plays on the Lions' defensive line. He joined the club as a third-round pick last year.
