Report: Dolphins signing Brissett to 1-year deal
The Dolphins are bringing in a new backup for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
Miami agreed to a one-year deal with former Indianapolis Colts signal-caller Jacoby Brissett, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Brissett's contract has a max value of $7.5 million and includes $5 million guaranteed, reports Ben Volin of the Boston Globe.
The Dolphins begin looking for a new No. 2 quarterback after reportedly losing free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick to the Washington Football Team. Fitzpatrick started seven games for Miami last year, posting a 4-3 record, but finished the campaign behind rookie Tagovailoa on the depth chart.
Brissett hit the open market as a high-quality backup after starting in two of his four seasons with the Colts. The 28-year-old, who attempted just eight passes last year, went 11-19 as a starter in Indy.
The NC State product entered the NFL as a third-round selection of the New England Patriots in 2016.
