Report: Washington signing Samuel to 3-year, $34.5M pact
The Washington Football Team expects to sign former Carolina Panthers wide receiver Curtis Samuel to a three-year deal worth $34.5 million, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Samuel will reunite with former Panthers head coach Ron Rivera in Washington.
Fun fact: Washington coach Ron Rivera tried to trade for WR Curtis Samuel last season, but #Panthers GM Marty Hurney refused. Now, they are together with Samuel... and didn't give up a draft pick. https://t.co/tRVFgedbaK

New Washington quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will now have a dynamic receiver pairing at his disposal in Samuel and emerging star Terry McLaurin. Fitzpatrick reportedly agreed to a one-year deal on Tuesday and is expected to start over Taylor Heinicke.
The NFC East club needed to add a No. 2 option alongside McLaurin, who led the team with 1,118 yards despite inconsistent quarterback play. Cam Sims had the second-most yards among Washington's wide receivers with 477.
Samuel produced a career season in his fourth year in Carolina, racking up 77 catches for 851 yards and three touchdowns in 15 games. The 24-year-old also added 200 yards and three scores on the ground.
