The Minnesota Vikings are signing cornerback Patrick Peterson to a one-year, $10-million deal, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Peterson spent the first 10 years of his career with the Arizona Cardinals, putting together a Hall of Fame-caliber resume that included eight straight Pro Bowl appearances (2011 to 2018), three first-team All-Pro nods, and a nomination to the NFL's 2010s All-Decade team.

However, the 30-year-old struggled to play up to his usual standards over the last two seasons. Peterson was ranked 142nd among cornerbacks in 2020 by PFF after giving up five touchdowns and allowing 66.7% of his targets to be completed.

The veteran is joining a Vikings team in dire need of more experience at the cornerback position.

Minnesota's usually solid pass defense finished 24th in yards allowed per game last season, with rookies Jeff Gladney and Cameron Dantzler and second-year pro Kris Boyd leading the group in snaps.

The Vikings have already made a splash to improve their defense, reportedly signing defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson to a two-year, $22-million pact.
