Burlington man charged with sexual assault of youth
A 53-year-old Burlington man is facing multiple charges in connection with an alleged incident involving a youth.
Halton police report that the victim - a 15-year-old boy - met the accused on an online dating site and subsequently met him at an undisclosed Burlington location on the evening of March 13.
The accused then reportedly led the victim to his residence, where the victim was allegedly sexually assaulted.
Police say the victim's age was known to the accused prior to arranging the meeting.
The victim notified police and an investigation ensued.
Yesterday (Mar. 17), the Halton Regional Police Service's Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a Burlington residence in relation to the investigation.
A Burlington man was arrested and charged with:
Luring a child
Invitation to sexual touching
Sexual assault
Sexual interference
He's being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
The charges have not been proven in court.
This case is subject to a publication ban under the Criminal Code of Canada, and police will not be providing additional details at this time.
