Eagles GM: Ertz trade has to 'make sense for both sides'
The Philadelphia Eagles are in no rush to trade tight end Zach Ertz.
General manager Howie Roseman said Thursday the Eagles won't make a deal unless they get a haul that matches their perception of the tight end.
"For us to trade any player, it's gotta make sense for both sides. None of us had the year we wanted to have last year, but that doesn't define us. We know who he is on and off the field and we value that," Roseman said while speaking to the media, including NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
Ertz's name has been popping up in trade rumors throughout the offseason. Numerous teams have reportedly expressed interest in acquiring him, but a serious suitor hasn't emerged yet.
The 30-year-old has spent his entire career in Philadelphia since becoming a second-round pick in 2013. He's been a consistent pass-catcher over the middle for much of his Eagles tenure.
Ertz's resume includes three Pro Bowl selections and six seasons with 700-plus receiving yards. However, his production has declined recently, and fellow tight end Dallas Goedert is emerging in Philadelphia. Ertz posted career lows across the board in 2020, recording just 335 receiving yards and one touchdown.
The Eagles have been busy on the trade front this offseason, already shipping Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts. Roseman described that move as a "win-win" for both sides, according to Pro Football Talk's Myles Simmons.
