Report: Allen Robinson signs Bears' franchise tag
Allen Robinson has accepted the franchise tag from the Chicago Bears, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
By accepting the tender, the wideout locks in his $18-million salary for the 2021 season.
The move comes a day after the Bears reportedly brought in Kenny Golladay for a free-agent visit. It also comes as receivers have failed to land long-term, big-money deals on the open market.
Robinson and the Bears still have until July 15 to work out a multi-year deal.
Robinson is now on track to play his fourth season in the Windy City. He has two straight seasons of 1,000 yards and reached 1,250 yards and six touchdowns in 2020.
He'll be catching passes from a new quarterback as the Bears signed Andy Dalton in free agency. Former Bears passer Mitch Trubisky signed on as a backup with the Buffalo Bills.
