A warm breeze is blowing and this weekend marks the first official day of spring 2021.

The vernal equinox (spring) arrives at 5:37 a.m. Saturday, and according to Environment Canada weekend temperatures will hit around the 13 C mark, all wrapped in sunny blue skies.

Enjoy the great outdoors Hamilton and keep in mind the COVID restrictions in our area.

Here are seven things you can get into this weekend.

EASTER FUN

Easter Eggstravaganza is on this Sunday and March 27 at Puddicombe Estate Farms, 1468 Hwy. 8 in Winona. Only pre-registered spots are offered at 10 and 11 a.m., 1 and 2 p.m. Cost is $30 for children three and up. If you can't get a spot, Fireside Weekend events are also held on weekends. Call 905-643-1015 or drop an email at info@puddicombefarms.com to get a booking form. Limited spots available and COVID protocols are in place.

THEATRE STREAM

The Baskerville family have long been haunted by the tale of a terrifying and spectral hound that wanders the bleak moors surrounding the ancestral home. Join Theatre Bacchus and London Born Wine for a streamed production of The Hound of the Baskervilles" which streams Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 19 to 21, and 26 to 28, 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10. theatrebacchus.com

BACH ELGAR CHOIR

Over the weekend the Bach Elgar Choir will stream on demand Fritz Lang's 1927 science fiction film masterpiece Metropolis" along with the invented soundtrack by Alexander Cann's 60-voice ensemble, performed and recorded by the choir in 2019. ART GALLERY

The Art Gallery of Hamilton features an expanded edition of Esmaa Mohamoud: To Play in the Face of Certain Defeat, a celebration of diversity and an urgent call to action around issues of racial marginalization. from Saturday to Aug. 15. Regular admission applies. With the shift into the red zone, the AGH is expecting to officially reopen to the public on Saturday, March 20. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and until 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. agh.ca

BURLINGTON CHALLENGE

The City of Burlington is launching the Spring into Health Challenge. From March to May, residents can join two-week mini-challenges designed to get individuals and families moving and having fun. Each team will consist of two households who will work together while in their own homes or outside to complete the daily challenges. New challenges are issued every day for 14 days. Teams that complete all the daily challenges are entered into a draw for gift cards to the Royal Botanical Gardens and SAIL. To enter the challenge, download and register the Goosechase app, enter the game code number and follow the instructions to complete the registration. AROUND THE BAY

Hamilton's 2021 Around the Bay Road Race is virtual and runs March 25 to April 25. Complete with the ever popular ATB Expo, which is also virtual of course, the virtual race offers events for all. There's still time to participate if you would like to sign up for the 2K, 5K, 10K, 15K, 2x15K Relay, 3x10K Relay, 30K or The Hammer visit bayrace.com. Participants can run a race and submit their time.

SUPERCRAWL

Catch Alfie Smith & Nicole Christian livestreamed Thursday, March 25. Supercrawl's spring livestream series runs March through May, with all performances taking place at Hamilton's Bridgeworks venue and showcased as high-quality streams via Vimeo, with exclusive ticketed access through Eventbrite.
