Former Minnesota Vikings safety Anthony Harris is signing a one-year, $5-million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Harris played under the franchise tag last season after failing to agree on a long-term extension with the Vikings.

The 29-year-old has been one of the NFL's best safeties over the last three seasons. He enjoyed his best pro campaign two years ago, leading the league with six interceptions while adding 11 pass breakups.

Harris didn't record a single pick in 2020 but still posted a career-high 104 tackles. The undrafted Virginia product has averaged 57 tackles, two interceptions, and six pass breakups per 16 games since entering the NFL in 2015.

The addition is a significant boost to the Eagles' defense, which placed 15th and 26th in the league last season after allowing 237.4 passing yards per game and 7.8 yards per pass attempt, respectively.

Harris is expected to start at safety in Philly alongside veteran Rodney McLeod or second-year defensive back K'Von Wallace. Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon worked with Harris in Minnesota from 2015-2017.
