The Seattle Seahawks are re-signing running back Chris Carson to a two-year deal worth up to $14.6 million, a source told ESPN's Field Yates.

Carson's contract contains a voidable third year, Yates reports. The deal provides the Seahawks with some breathing room under the salary cap.

He's guaranteed $5.5 million next season and has a chance to earn up to $6.9 million in 2021, a source told The Seattle Times' Bob Condotta.

The New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, and New England Patriots were among notable suitors, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Carson has led the way for Seattle's running game for much of his tenure. A seventh-round selection in the 2017 draft, Carson has eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark twice in four seasons.

He's averaged 4.6 yards per carry over his career, so the Seahawks are retaining a consistent chain-mover. However, injuries have caused Carson to miss 19 of a possible 64 regular-season games.

Carson rushed for 681 yards and five touchdowns through 12 contests last season. He added 37 receptions for 287 yards and four scores.

The Oklahoma State product is projected to receive the majority of carries moving forward. He returns to a crowded running back group that includes Rashaad Penny, Travis Homer, DeeJay Dallas, and Alex Collins.
