Running linux off Portable SSD - Encrypting and gaming
by Pandemo from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5FJMK)
Hi all
I boot Linux (Ubuntu to be more specific) off a Portable SSD.
I have heard its a good idea to encrypt my drive contents, I think particularly as I use the SSD on multiple computers and also while traveling.
Anyway, I do also game on linux, how much would encrypting the drive slow down performance? Are applications decrypted each time they are executed? Also is it possible to encrypt my drive after the fact? Or am I best off doing a whole fresh new install?
