default LESS env var

So I was trying to fix some un-escaped chars in my git log/history output and I found out that I needed the option "-R" in my LESS variable in order to pass through ANSI codes.
By default in Slackware this is set to "-M" only.
Did someone else also had to do this or is there something else wrong in my config which could have caused the issue? I would guess the latter...

FWIW what i'm running
- LANG=en_US.UTF8
- terminal is Konsole with UTF8 encoding
- env is kde plasma5 started from run level 3latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=OCVeVkyCOAs:tOfI_lSwF2k:F7zBnMy latest?i=OCVeVkyCOAs:tOfI_lSwF2k:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=OCVeVkyCOAs:tOfI_lSwF2k:gIN9vFwOCVeVkyCOAs
