Free-agent safety Kareem Jackson agreed to a deal to return to the Denver Broncos, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

It's a one-year pact worth $5 million, Mike Klis of 9News reports.

Denver opted not to pick up Jackson's 2021 option earlier in March after failing to come to terms on a contract restructure.

The Broncos have made significant moves to solidify their secondary this offseason. The AFC West club signed cornerbacks Ronald Darby and Kyle Fuller in free agency and made Justin Simmons the NFL's highest-paid safety with an extension.

Jackson, 32, joined the Broncos on a three-year, $33-million contract in 2019.

The veteran defensive back racked up 160 total tackles, 14 pass defenses, and three interceptions in 29 starts over the last two seasons.
