Report: Patriots re-sign James White to 1-year contract
Running back James White is returning to the New England Patriots on a one-year deal worth a fully guaranteed $2.5 million, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
White drew interest from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and other clubs at the start of free agency, according to Schefter.
The 29-year-old has spent his entire career with the Patriots, serving primarily as a pass-catching running back.
White has caught 369 receptions for 3,184 yards and 25 touchdowns since being selected in the fourth round of the 2014 draft. He's added in 1,240 yards on the ground over his seven-year career.
He recorded 375 receiving yards in 2020, his lowest figure since his rookie season, but his numbers were also influenced by New England's struggles in the passing game. White still ranked third on the team in receiving yards, finishing behind only Jakobi Meyers and Damiere Byrd.
White rejoins a running back room that also features Sony Michel and Damien Harris.
