Tiling all Open Windows
by ViableAlternative from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5FSQ7)
Sorry if this seems like too basic a question for some of you, but I promise that I have spent considerable time looking for the proper "help" manual, and if the answer is out there in printed form, it has eluded me. Please direct me towards it.
I'm using Knoppix 9.1 with the KDE desktop, and the Compiz window manager (feature, utility, etc?) on top of it.
Whenever the mouse cursor goes into the upper right hand corner of the screen, immediately all open windows shrink and go into a tiled array, and the computer goes into a sort of suspended animation until I give one window a mouse click.
And, I would DEARLY love to kill this functionality, make it stop, and not return. It's irritating how often the mouse cursor migrates up into that corner on it's own while I am typing.
But, going in to KDE Settings, Workspace Behavior, Screen Edges- and disabling all active locations..... did not stop this behavior
I've also dug through the CompizConfig Manager looking for any likely culprit, to no avail...and yes I do have the "Expo" feature completely disabled.
Beyond that, I've looked at Debian online manuals, KDE online manuals, and even ran several blind searches, just hoping to luck out and find some other user having the same experience.....and doubtful as it might seem, have come up empty handed.
So, I'm hoping one of you can show me the way. Perhaps I'm just not using the correct terminology in my searches? Perhaps it's just something buried so deep in Linux that no one ever bothers to fool with?
Or, perhaps it is what is described as an "immutable configuration option" in the KDE administrators guide, where the Knoppix people just thought they'd make permanent decisions on how their users "enjoy" their product? Other than that, I'm not finding much hope, please help.
