Is receiving current information a security issue please?

It seems to me all internet browsers constantly supply old search results. Results show up are years old, a decade old. With Google's one shot "Tools,Any Time, Past Year", "Tools" popup, I see current results. Is it possible to somehow get them without having to make a special search. A way to configure a particular browser?
