What is the proper way of restarting plasma 5 without logging off?
by lvm_ from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5G5DC)
As per numerous guides I tried
kquitapp5 plasmashell
kstart5 plasmashell >/dev/null 2>&1 &
and it works but with annoying after-effect: the space used by auto-hiding panel to appear becomes unusable, it shows screen stripe frozen at the moment of the restart and all windows go behind it. Restarting window manager (kwin --replace) doesn't help. Plasma 5.12.9 (ubuntu 18.04), so upgrading is an obvious thing to try, but will it help?
