Firefox Bookmarks

Linuxmint 20.1 FF 87.0
I replaced 18.0 in / with 20.1. I retained my original home. Before installing 20.1 I Exported the Bookmarks and followed Mozilla instructions to import the Bookmarks HTML. Bookmarks were blank before the Import. I now have 2 sets of bookmarks.
I am guessing that instead of Following the FF instructions I should have done something else because I have an already existing home.
