Question about restoring cloned disks into bigger disks than original?
by Ana Hartley from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5GE85)
Well I'm back! I always like to fully read up before I do anything major. I read all about the last suggested idea, to clone my dual boot win/Ubuntu into another, larger disk using Clonezilla.
Apparently you need always to clone "to a bigger disk". What I'm asking, does that mean that the cloned disk won't reboot/restore into my wiped, original internal disk I just cloned From, if it's still just the same size? I bought a bigger capacity hard drive to clone my dualboot disk into. How do I clone it back if it's always got to be bigger? Or does the "restore" function of Clonezilla not qualify as "cloning"?
Does it have to be bigger CAN IT JUST BE SAME SIZE? Incredible I can't find a specific about that on Clonezilla website.
Does "disk imaging"(Clonezilla) as opposed to cloning (Clonezilla) have same sizing necessitates/restrictions/rules about "must clone to a bigger sized disk"?
Thanks in advance.
