Hamilton country-rock group The Redhill Valleys and Burlington singer-songwriter Tianna Woods are nominated for the ninth annual Country Music Association of Ontario Awards, which will be presented May 30 at a special drive-in show in Hamilton.

The Redhill Valleys is nominated for the second year in a row for best artist or roots group of the year, while Woods is up for female artist of the year - a category in which she has been nominated six previous times.

Hamilton's Jessie Bower - one half of the country singing duo of Jess and Tay, along with Pickering's Taylor Adams - is also up for best duo or group of the year.

Leading the nominations are Meghan Patrick, Tim Hicks and newcomer Robyn Ottolini, with five nominations each. Patrick, of Bowmanville, has won 15 previous CMAOntario Awards, while Hicks, a native of St. Catharines, has won nine.

The CMAOntario Awards, hosted by country stars Beverley Mahood and Jason McCoy, are scheduled to be announced live on Sunday, May 30, with a live concert and awards show from an outdoor stage at the Ancaster Fairgrounds. Fans will be able to watch it from their cars which are parked in front of the stage in rows, similar to a drive-in movie setting.

Performers, ticket details, and additional events from the CMAOntario Festival & Awards Weekend will be announced in the coming weeks. For more information, visit the Country Music Association of Ontario website at cmaontario.ca.
