Eight arrested on child pornography charges: Hamilton police

Eight people - all from Hamilton or surrounding areas - are facing child pornography charges.

In a release Tuesday, Hamilton police said between January and the end of March it worked with Niagara Regional Police and Ontario Provincial Police to execute 17 search warrants and nearly 40 other judicial orders at various locations in Hamilton, Dunnville and Niagara Falls.

As a result, seven men and one woman between the ages of 27 and 70 were charged. Police said the investigations are unrelated" and ongoing.

Those charged include:

• A 49-year-old Niagara Falls man who is charged with six counts of making child pornography and two counts of possession of child pornography;

• A 47-year-old Hamilton woman who is charged with six counts of making child pornography and possession of child pornography;

• A 52-year-old Dunnville man who is charged with making child pornography available and two counts of possession of child pornography;

• A 27-year-old Hamilton man who is charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and possession of an illegal substance;

• A 43-year-old Hamilton man who is charged with making child pornography available and two counts of possession of child pornography;

• A 55-year-old Hamilton man who is charged with making child pornography available and two counts of possession of child pornography;

• A 53-year-old Hamilton man who is charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of failing to comply with a release order; and

• A 70-year-old Hamilton man who is charged with possession of child pornography.
