Cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed at Fortinos, McMaster University and within Hamilton police.

In an email to The Spectator, a Loblaw spokesperson said four staff members at the Fortinos grocery store located at 65 Mall Rd. on the Hamilton Mountain have recently tested positive for COVID-19.

The employees were last in the store on March 30, April 1, April 3 and April 8.

According to the spokesperson, staff members who were considered close contacts are in self-isolation and a majority" of the cases will be considered resolved this week.

We have been working with the local public health team and have taken a number of steps to minimize risk, including increased sanitization protocols and enforcing social distancing practices in the store," said the spokesperson. The store also arranged for additional cleaning."

In a tweet Monday, Hamilton police said an officer working in the investigative services division had tested positive for the virus. The officer was last at work April 9 and all close contacts" have been notified.

Also, two officers - one working in support services and the other working out of the mountain division - had previously tested positive on April 8. They were last at work on April 6.

In a release Monday, McMaster said they had been notified of a case involving an employee.

According to the university, the staff member tested positive on April 9 and was last on campus April 1 in the nuclear reactor building. All impacted areas" have been cleaned and Hamilton public health is managing contact tracing.

When a person notifies McMaster they are awaiting test results and spent time on campus, all areas the person visited within the last 72 hours are cleaned. If the test comes back positive, the university does additional cleaning.

According to McMaster, they notify the university community any time they are informed" of a case involving an individual who has spent any time on campus even if just for a few minutes."
